Pachamama
Most of the women were in traditional clothing (brimmed hat w/feather, hair pulled back, red thick shawl, white blouse, long black skirt, and these cool woven sandals).
I tried asking some street vendors, ¨Donde esta Pachamama (mother earth)¨, the name of the hostel, but didn't get very far with that. A boy on a bike rode up to me, he seemed to know where I should head so i crossed the street and headed down a dirt road. I walked about 12 blocks asking people along the way. I know now the half that just smiled at me only spoke Quichua. At least everyone was friendly and I didn't mind the walk, it´s beautiful here.
About 3 hours later I arrived at hostel Pachamama and was welcomed by the 10 other volunteers from around the world that I will be working with at Escuela Katitawa!
The house and view are pretty incredible. From the back deck (my room) you can see SIX volcanoes on a clear day! Volcano Chimborazo (elevation 6,268 meters or 20,564 feet!) is visible and is the farthest spot from the center of the earth you can possibly get (due to the equatorial bulge), it is always covered in snow and is breathtaking!!!
