Last dance in Australia
Took the train about 3 hours west, despite a cloudy forecast and having to say goodbye to my amazing Australian family. But when you can walk into town for some coffee and you know the other customers, its maybe time to move along.

Had an incredible few days in the Blue Mountains at Katoomba, Australia. I'm probably just on a high that I survived but I completed a 6 hour bushwalk starting at Echos Point through Federal Pass to the Golden Staircase. It began in almost complete white out with heavy fog but quickly the skies opened up for me!

Sooo many stairs.....
Had great views of the the Three Sisters. Legend has it that three sisters lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. These three beautiful young ladies had fallen in love with three brothers from the Nepean tribe, yet tribal law forbid them to marry. The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters causing a huge tribal battle. As the lives of the three sisters were seriously in danger, a witch-doctor from the Katoomba tribe took it upon himself to turn the three sisters into stone to protect them from any harm. While he had intended to reverse the spell when the battle was over, the witch-doctor himself ended up being killed! As only he could reverse the spell to return the ladies to their former beauty, the sisters remain in their magnificent rock form as a reminder of the battle.

Stayed in a great hostel in Katoomba with a little yellow deli down the street for tea in the mornings! Even got to brush up on my mediation skills. I had a dorm room with 8 other females. I've stayed in many dorm rooms in my day and never had so much drama as this small town mountain stay! These two older ladies fought about everything! Who was using scented deodorant? Who was opening the windows at night? Who was changing beds? Who was making the room stink? They would throw open the blinds in the morning and start throwing things around, it felt a bit like my high school years when mom would threaten to leave me if I didn't get up for school in time. But they all hugged me goodbye and ended up being a great sendoff to the next stop, Queenstown, NEW ZEALAND!

So far so good!
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record....I did not threaten to leave "you"...just leave you at home. Obviously, you have overcome that issue (getting out of bed) that is.
Hugs,
