Day 53-60

This week has been rough.

It's rained for three days straight and I can usually make friends with the rain, not this time. Not when the islands sewer lines can´t handle it, not when your trying to keep a sliced toe dry and avoid infection, and definetly not when there are fishes to see!

I guess this is the best place for me to be having a nervous breakdown. I was too busy living the carefree life (the rained cleared a few days ago) to book my last few tickets and now having major trouble. I have done so well with my budget and have stayed way under, that it hurts deep in my chest to have to use it all on plane tickets. But that's what it was for, right?  Well, there goes my dream of sailing from the Caribbean coast of Colombia to the islands off Panama in a catamaran with Captain Jack and his crew (at least Mom will be happy to hear this). On the bright side, it makes a few decisions easier and once I push purchase, I still have 3 full days in the Galapagos Islands before heading out at the end of the week ;)

So this last week here I moved into a hotel, but have a private room and bath. The old man that owns it lives across the hall from me and is super sweet, I can never understand what he's saying but he always wants to hold my hand when he talks to me and I'm pretty sure he wears two pairs of pants. He also kinda staggers and sways when he approaches, I'm not sure if it´s old age or the result of paint fumes (he´s repainting the hall). He has this little Geo Tracker type truck and is always trying to  give me rides when I see him around town ( and it's a VERY small town) he seems a little too senile or high on fumes to be driving, in my opinion.

Anyway, he was nice enough to change my sheets halfway through my stay (believe me, not a regular occurence in SA). Too bad the new sheets came with bed bugs!!! Or else I picked up sea fleas, cause I had the most miserable night and my legs are covered in bites now, ugh.

Sorry I'm pretty much just rambling now but its all I can do to keep from scratching my legs off.
It's funny, when I first started this trip I was surprised at how everyone traveling seemed to pair up or find a relationship but being on this island where it's been really hard to meet people (most are just here for the day off a cruise or couples) I realize traveling alone gets lonely quick and although I left the states alone, I have pretty much been in great company throughout my trip.

On a more positive note, I had a lobo (sea lion) full on dart at me in the water today.  It was scarier than any shark I've encountered but I learned my lesson, mating hour is no time to play around. I discovered a little cafe Internet called mockingbirds where I've come every morning for the last three days to have the mockingbird breakfast for 3.50 you get pan, cafe con leche, tostada, huevo, frutas, mermelada, mantequilla and the best part, fresh jugo (todays was guanabana, do we even have that in the states?) So good and it fills me up for the day , usually;)
Hope everyone back home is doing well, If you couldn't tell, I miss my homies!

Traffic jam!
